Description
No. 38 on High Street is a building dating from around 1615, featuring a 19th-century front and possibly a 19th-century core. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, finished with a painted ashlar front and a slate gabled roof. The building has three gabled dormers and four windows, with the left-hand first-floor window positioned lower than the others. A small modillion eaves cornice runs across the five right-hand bays. The corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins, and there is a band along the façade. The windows have rusticated dressings, except for the first-floor window at the left-hand end. The ground floor includes a shop front, likely from the late 19th or early 20th century, flanked by round-headed windows that feature moulded stone voussoirs and keystones. There is also a three-light window in the left-hand bay. Nos. 38 to 44 (even) are part of a group of buildings.
