Description
The Bingley Independent Methodist Church, originally a Christian Brethren Chapel, was built in 1868. The building features an ashlar front with hammer-dressed sides and rear, and it likely has a slate roof, though this is not visible. It has two storeys and a basement at the side and rear, with the ground sloping steeply towards the south end. The front is gabled and includes four first-floor windows. Notable architectural details include rusticated quoins, a moulded string course, and a pediment. There are paired doorways with pilastered doorcases and an entablature that has a dentil cornice and blocking course. On either side of the doorways are windows with segmental lintels, and there are four round-arched windows on the first floor. A moulded pediment features a date plaque engraved "Ebenezer Christian Brethren 1868". A stack is located at the rear gable. The left and right returns of the building have four bays of windows: square-headed in the basement and matching the front design on the ground and first floors.
