Funerary monument. Dated 1869. To John Shortridge, steel manufacturer, 1803-1869. Granite obelisk approx 5m high, on a square sandstone pedestal with chamfered plinth and moulded cornice. Illegible inscription. Square base with elaborate fluted volutes at the corners and a wreathed roundel on each side. Square foundation stone. Enclosed by a square kerb, originally with a railing.
