Description

This memorial stone, dated 1876, is located 250 meters north-west of Brereton Park Farmhouse. It is made of buff sandstone and stands approximately 2 meters high. The stone is designed as an obelisk, resting on a chamfered plinth and topped with a pyramidal cap. The south face of the stone is inscribed with the following text:

"IN REMEMBRANCE OF JOHN RADCLIFFE ESQ. WHO WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED WHILST CROSSING THIS FENCE WITH THE CHESHIRE HOUNDS 7 MARCH 1876. No Man Is Sure of Life JOB XXIV 22."
