Description

Brereton Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1683, with early 19th-century alterations and a late 20th-century porch. It is constructed of irregular bond orange brick with washed sandstone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with a central T-plan ridge chimney. The building is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-bay west front. Notable architectural details include a brick plinth, flush stone quoins, and a cyma-moulded stone band at the first floor. The end bays contain three-light iron casements, while the central pair of glazed doors is set under a segmental brick head and is sheltered by a simple gabled porch. Above the entrance, a diamond-shaped datestone reads WOE 1683.

Inside, the layout includes a lobby entry with a room on either side of the central stack. The room to the right features an inglenook fireplace with a heavy bressumer, a spice cupboard, and a cupboard above the inglenook inscribed WEO 1683. It also has a heavy ceiling beam with bead moulding. The room to the left has a smaller fireplace and a similar ceiling beam. An additional range of early 19th-century and late 20th-century work has been added to the rear, which is of no special interest.
