Description
Meadow Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with significant repairs made in the late 20th century. It features timber framing and rendered brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has one central ridge brick chimney and one lateral chimney serving the cross-wing. The layout consists of a hall with two cross-wings, and the front is two storeys high with four bays. The windows are all 20th-century wooden casements with two or three lights and glazing bars. In the second bay, there is an early studded oak board door with an inserted glass panel, located behind a lean-to porch. To the left, there is a one-storey addition.
Inside, entry is through a cross-passage where a timber-framed partition partly survives. The rear wall of the original house displays exposed small-framing timber with passing and angle braces. The hall features a heavy chamfered ceiling beam with a fillet and tongue stop. The parlour has an original sandstone fireplace with a moulded opening, and a similar fireplace is found in the main chamber, which has a four-centred head. The roof trusses rest on the heads of widened posts and consist of a tie beam with two diagonal struts.
