Description
Stapleford Hall is a building dated 1789, with mid-19th century alterations. It is constructed of white pointed Flemish bond red brick with buff sandstone dressings and features a hipped Welsh slate roof with two parallel ranges and two brick chimneys. The hall has a square plan and is two stories high, with a symmetrical three-bay north front. It includes a plinth, a band at the first-floor sill level, and a simple cornice. The central bay slightly projects forward and is topped with a triangular pediment that has an obelisk finial, containing a blocked elliptical light with a black painted grille. The entrance features a heavy Tuscan doorcase with a semi-circular headed door that has radial glazing bars. The windows consist of two-light wooden casements with painted cambered brick heads, while the end bays have similar three-light windows and two-light windows on the top storey. The west front has six blocked windows. Inside, there are four-panelled pine doors, an open well staircase with turned balusters and heavy newels, simple marble fireplaces, and an ornate brick surround to the kitchen range.
