Description
The tombchest of John Minshull and his daughter is located in the south-west corner of the churchyard of St. Andrew. It dates back to at least 1762 and is made of buff sandstone ashlar. The long sides of the tombchest feature raised rectangular panels that are badly exfoliated, flanked by medallions and lines of husks, with similar designs on the short sides. The top slab is finely carved and includes a moulded cornice that is in good condition. The field of the top slab is divided into two columns with semi-circular heads, adorned with carved fronds in the spandrels. The remaining space is filled with long, well-cut serifed inscriptions.
