Description
The sundial in the churchyard of St Andrew dates from the mid 18th century and is made of buff sandstone. It features a column baluster that stands on three circular steps. The sundial has a simply moulded base, a band below halfway, and a simply moulded cap. It originally had a good bronze plate signed "ROB T GAWLEY CHESTER," which displayed numerals in italicised Roman lettering, the points of the compass, and an engraved central star. The sundial also featured a scrolled gnomon. However, both the bronze plate and the scrolled gnomon are currently missing, believed to have been stolen in 1995.
