Description
This is a memorial monument located 60 meters east of the New Chapel at the General Cemetery in Sheffield, dating from around 1880. It is made of sandstone and granite and features a cross-gabled inscribed pedestal topped with a draped urn, all set on a stepped and partly vermiculated plinth. The base is chamfered, and there is a chamfered inscribed slab. The monument is surrounded by a round-cornered cast-iron railing that sits on a chamfered stone plinth. Mark Firth, the individual commemorated by this monument, was a prominent steel maker and public benefactor in 19th century Sheffield.
