Description

This is a sewer gas lamp located at the junction with Nicholson Road in Sheffield. It dates from the late 19th century and was made by the Webb Lamp Company. The lamp is constructed from cast iron and painted green. It features a conical shape with a domed cap, supported by curved brackets at the top of a fluted round column that has a bulged foot and ladder rests, although one of the ladder rests is missing. The lamp stands on a round pedestal with a plinth, and on opposite sides, there are moulded panels displaying the maker's name. The lamp is complete but was not working at the time of the survey.
