Description
This is a late 19th-century sewer gas lamp located at the junction of Jenkin Road and Tipton Street in Sheffield. It was made by the Webb Lamp Company and is constructed from cast iron, painted red. The lamp has a conical shape with a domed cap, supported by curved brackets at the top of a fluted round column that features a bulged foot and ladder rests, although one of the ladder rests is missing. The lamp stands on a round pedestal with a plinth, and on opposite sides, there are moulded panels displaying the maker's name. At the time of the survey, the lamp was complete and in working order.
