Description
This is a late 19th-century sewer gas lamp located at the junction of London Road, Alderson Road, and Harewood Close in Sheffield. It was made by the Webb Lamp Company and is constructed from cast iron, painted red. The lamp features a conical shape with a domed cap, supported by curved brackets at the top of a fluted round column that has a bulged foot and a ladder rest. The lamp stands on a round pedestal with a plinth, and on opposite sides, there are moulded panels displaying the maker's name. The lamp is complete and in working order.
