Description

Mount Pleasant Community Centre is a house that dates back to around 1770 and has been converted into a community centre. It features brick construction with stone dressings and a hipped slate roof that has six ridge stacks.

On the exterior, there is a plinth, a first-floor band, and dentilled eaves. The building stands three storeys tall and has a symmetrical five-by-five window arrangement. Most of the windows are 12-pane sashes with brick flat arches. The east front has a projecting central section with three windows beneath a dentilled pediment. There is a central elliptical arched recess that contains a Venetian window, with a blank space to its right. Above this, there are five 6-pane sashes, one of which is blank. The central doorcase features Corinthian engaged columns and a dentilled pediment, with a half-glazed door and a blank overlight. To the right of the door, there is a larger double sash window with a toplight.

The south front includes a central canted hipped bay window that rises three storeys. There is a central round-headed recess with a pedimented 12-pane sash window on brackets, and above it, there are 6-pane sashes. Below, a taller central sash is flanked by single sashes with aprons, all featuring cornices. To the left, there is a set-back range with two sashes on the upper floors and three on the ground floor. A narrow recess to the right contains a three-light casement, with a 6-pane sash above.

The north side has a central 12-pane sash window with an eared and shouldered surround, cornice, and balustraded apron, flanked by two sashes. Above this, there are five 6-pane sashes. Below, there are two 12-pane sashes to the left and three altered sashes with toplights to the right. There is also a larger double sash with toplights and a narrow recess with a single sash on the upper floors. This side features a pedimented Corinthian doorcase with a 20th-century door and fanlight. A range to the right includes two sashes on each floor.

Inside, the building retains its original staircase.
