Description

Wesley House, originally a Methodist institute and now functioning as a Citizens' Advice Bureau, was built in 1906. The building features rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and has gabled and hipped slate roofs, complete with large coped ridges and stacks on the gables and side walls. It is designed in the Perpendicular Revival style and includes moulded sill and eaves bands, as well as a moulded coped parapet and gables. The structure consists of two storeys and a single storey plus a basement, with a four-window range.

Most of the windows are stone mullioned cross casements. The main block has four 3-light windows on the left side. To the right, there is a square porch that spans the area, featuring a moulded crenellated parapet and a central crocket finial. The porch contains a moulded segment-headed doorway with a hoodmould and foliage stops, framed by a 4-panel double door and a mullioned fanlight. Above the porch, to the left, is a flush gable flanked by hexagonal buttresses with fluted concave-sided caps, which supports a segment-headed 5-light window with double transoms and a hoodmould. In the centre, there are two 3-light windows, and to the right, a tall 2-light window with double transoms sits above the porch. The basement features four segment-headed openings with 3-light flush mullioned openings and transoms. To the right, there is a hipped projection with a 3-light mullioned window, and in the basement, a segment-headed opening with flush mullions can be found.

The exterior is complemented by wavy-topped wrought-iron railings with openwork posts.
