SK38NE HIGHFIELD PLACE 784-1/6/431 (South side) Wesley House and boundary railings

Methodist institute, now Citizens' Advice Bureau, and area railing. 1906. Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and gabled and hipped slate roofs with large coped ridge, gable and side wall stacks. Perpendicular Revival style. Moulded sill and eaves bands, moulded coped parapet and gables. 2 storeys and single storey plus basement; 4 window range. Windows are mainly stone mullioned cross casements. Main block has to left four 3-light windows. To right, a square porch spanning the area, with a moulded crenellated parapet and central crocket finial. Moulded segment-headed doorway with hoodmould and foliage stops, framed 4-panel double door and mullioned fanlight. Above, to left, a flush gable flanked by hexagonal buttresses with fluted concave sided caps, with a segment-headed 5-light window with double transoms and hoodmould. In the centre, two 3-light windows, and to right, a tall 2-light window with double transoms, above the porch. Basement has 4 segment-headed openings with 3-light flush mullioned openings and transoms. To right, a hipped projection with a 3-light mullioned window. In the basement, a segment-headed opening with flush mullions. INTERIOR not inspected. Outside, wavy-topped wrought-iron railing with openwork posts.
