Description
The Shortreed monument is located in the churchyard southwest of the church of St Michael. It is a tall square sandstone pier set on a deep stepped plinth. The monument features an entablature with a decorative frieze, topped by a tall draped urn. Inscriptions can be found on the north and west faces of the monument. It is enclosed by a tall structure of slender iron railings arranged in two tiers, which have spear finials and urns at the corner stanchions.
