Description

The Manager's house and adjoining stable, now a museum, was built in 1838. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, featuring Welsh slate and stone slate roofs, along with a single brick gable stack. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range, with a 12-pane sash window on the left and an 8-pane sash window on the right. Below these, there is a 12-pane sash window, and to the right, a board door with an overlight. All openings are topped with stone lintels. The right side features a blank stable wall, while the right gable has a small square hatch and a round pigeonhole at the peak. The central board door leads to the rear, which has a central doorway with stone jambs, a double board door, and a gabled hood, flanked by two 6-pane casements. Inside, the house includes a fitted kitchen range, a stone sink, and a cast-iron fireplace in the parlour, which is flanked by round-headed niches.
