Description

Beauchief Abbey Farmhouse, now a house, was built in the mid-18th century, with alterations in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of squared stone with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof, featuring a 20th-century external gable stack and a smaller gable stack. One gable is coped with kneelers. The front of the house has two storeys and originally three windows. It now has three 20th-century two-light casement windows on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a rebuilt late 20th-century buttress to the left, followed by two 20th-century two-light casements, the left one with a label mould. To the right of the buttress is a 20th-century lean-to porch with a door and a two-light window, and a further two-light window. The left gable has two 19th-century single casement windows on each floor, with hexagonal cast-iron glazing flanking the stack. The rear of the house features two similar windows, the right one with a label mould. The interior was not inspected.
