Description
The rear range at Hillsborough Schools is a school building from the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs with a ridge stack. The design is in a simple Gothic style that is in harmony with the earlier parts of the school. The building is single storey and has an eight-window range with a double depth plan.
There are two stone mullioned two-light windows, which are flanked by single gables. Each gable contains a pointed arched recess with a flat-headed four-light cross casement that has wooden mullions and a lintel. On either side of these gables, there is a stone mullioned two-light window. Further along, there are smaller gables with three-light wooden framed cross casements. The left return gable features a similar window with top lights. The rear range is lower and single storey. The interior has not been inspected.
