Description

The stable block, located 25 meters north of the Warden's House at Crewe Hall, dates from around 1850 and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features hipped slate roofs with two stone ridge stacks. The central block is taller and has a pyramidal roof topped with an octagonal bell turret that includes a clock and weather vane. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window range. The square central block features a triple round-headed window, with two round windows on each side at a lower level, all having stone surrounds. Below these, there are four late 20th-century square glazing bar casements with concrete lintels, and to the left, there is a late 20th-century flat-roofed porch with a similar window in the return angle. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
