SK3386SW CLARKEHOUSE ROAD 784-1/32/203 (North side (off)) Stable block 25m north of Warden's House at Crewe hall

GV II

Stable block. c1850, with late C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and hipped slate roofs with 2 stone ridge stacks. Higher central block with pyramidal roof topped with an octagonal bell turret with clock and weather vane. 2 storeys; 5 window range. Square central block has a triple round-headed window. On each side, at a lower level, 2 round windows. These windows have stone surrounds. Below, 4 C20 square glazing bar casements with concrete lintels and to left, a C20 flat-roofed porch with a similar window in the return angle. INTERIOR not inspected. Included for group value.
