Description
The stable block, located 80 yards east-southeast of Wolverton House, dates from the early 19th century and is designed in a U-shape. It features a two-storey centerpiece topped with a bell turret. The roof is tiled, gabled at both ends and the centerpiece, which has a brick-dentilled steep pediment. The octagonal turret includes an open arcade and a lead-covered dome, while the north gable displays a clock face within a hatchment frame. The walls are made of red brick in English bond, with a deep stepped plinth. The window openings are semi-circular lunettes with stone keys, and the doorways have cambered heads also with stone keys. Arches mark the entrances to passageways at the corners. The south side has a parapet, and the centerpiece features a circular window in the gable and a blank lunette above a plain doorway. There are two flat-roofed dormers and a pair of modern windows on each side. Three corners of the building are connected to the garden wall system.
