Description
The Pump House is a late-medieval timber-framed building dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in 1725 and additional modifications in the 20th century. It consists of three bays and features a large inserted stack, with lower extensions added to the east side. The building has been reclad in brickwork from the 18th century, with some small modern additions.
It stands two storeys tall with irregularly placed windows. The roof is tiled and has a half-hipped design on the main block, along with a shafted stack. The timber framework is visible in the gables, while the walls are primarily made of red brick, featuring some English bond but mostly Flemish bond. There is a first-floor band and cambered openings, along with a plinth around the north end, where the upper wall displays large blue headers that indicate the date 1725. The windows include casements, some with old leaded lights and one in a Gothic frame. A plain door is located beneath a modern tiled and gabled canopy supported by posts, along with other modern entrances.
