Description
Hannah Rawson School is a girls' school built in 1829, funded by Hannah Rawson. It features mid and late 19th century additions. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and has a stone slate roof, which includes a single ridge and two gable coped stone stacks. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range in an L-plan layout. Currently, the windows are boarded up, and the door is blocked. On the first floor, there are two windows with stone lintels, and above the door, there is a plaque that reads, "This school for girls was built at the sole expense of Miss Hannah Rawson of Ward's End, endowed with £10 per annum, A D 1829." To the right, there is a later window. Below, there are two more windows with stone lintels, followed by a door with a plain stone surround and cornice, and another window. The interior has not been inspected, and the building was vacant at the time of the survey.
