Description
Low Fold Farmhouse and the attached barn were built in the late 18th century, with the barn likely dating from the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed from coursed, squared gritstone and features a concrete-tiled roof, while the barn has a roof made of stone slates. The farmhouse has a two-room layout and stands two stories tall, with two windows on the first floor. It has a plinth and a 20th-century part-glazed door on the left, framed in bonded ashlar. The house has three-light mullion windows on both floors, all with square-faced surrounds, recessed mullions, and 20th-century aluminium casements. A central corniced ashlar ridge stack is present on the roof.
The barn features a segmental-arched cart entrance on the right, which is adorned with rock-faced voussoirs and a keystone. To the left of the entrance, there is a boarded door, a small casement window, and 13 stone steps leading up to a hayloft door with a keyed arch. The upper storey has five slit vents. At the rear of the barn, there are large boarded cart doors beneath a segmental arch. An attached cowhouse at the front left of the barn is not of special interest. The listing includes this building partly for its group value with other structures.
