Description
Thryft House is a farmhouse and cottage that has been converted into three houses, accompanied by an adjoining boundary wall and gate piers. It dates from the mid-17th century, with 19th-century alterations and late 20th-century restoration. The building is constructed from coursed squared stone and features a steeply pitched stone slate roof, along with three ridge stacks and one gable stack.
The house has two storeys and an eight-window range. Most windows have chamfered stone surrounds and mullions. The central window is a single light, flanked on the left by three three-light mullioned windows and on the right by two similar windows, followed by another single light window and a three-light window with wooden mullions. Below these, there are two doors with stone surrounds and margin glazing, with the left door being larger and flanked by two three-light stone mullioned windows. To the right, beyond the boundary wall, there is a 20th-century door and a three-light window with wooden mullions. The left side of the house features a 19th-century five-light stone mullioned window on each floor.
The adjoining boundary wall is made of coursed squared stone with a gabled rubble coping and has a rounded corner on the left that encloses the garden. Opposite the house, there are two pairs of obelisk-shaped gate piers, with the right pair being larger. The boundary wall is approximately 100 meters long. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
