North-west block at Hollis Hospital, now old people's home. 1903. By Howard C Clarke. Red brick, with coursed squared stone plinth, rendered panels and sham timber framing with rendered nogging. Half hipped plain tile roof with weatherboard gablets and brick ridge stack with corbelled lozenge shaped double flues. Vernacular Revival style. Single storey; 1 window range. Windows are mainly glazing bar sashes. Front has a large canted wooden bay window with a pair of small 8-pane sashes flanked by larger 16-pane sashes. Each return has a segment-arched sash. Rear has a glazed door flanked by windows. INTERIOR not inspected. The hospital was established by Thomas Hollis in 1703.
