Description
The monument and railings to GH Foster, located 7 meters west of St Michael's Cemetery Chapel, were built in 1894. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, Portland stone, and pink granite, this structure honors GH Foster and his family, who donated the cemetery chapel. The monument features a stepped square pedestal that supports an inscribed square block, which is topped with an ornate gabled canopy and double corner shafts that culminate in pinnacles. At the very top, there is a square crocketed spire. The vault includes a blocked doorway that is accessible by a stairway lined with glazed brick. Surrounding the monument is a wrought-iron railing and gate, set on a chamfered stone plinth with traceried square piers.
