Description

Wood Lane House Farm, now a countryside centre, is a house with an adjoining service wing and stable range, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar with painted ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks and four side wall coped stone stacks.

The exterior includes a plinth, rusticated quoins, and modillion eaves. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The windows are 12-pane sashes, with the central window being corniced and the flanking windows featuring multi-keystone lintels. The central doorcase is supported by Doric piers and topped with an open pediment, containing a half-glazed door and fanlight. On either side of the door, there are single plain sashes with multi-keystone lintels.

To the left, there is a set-back service wing that is also two storeys high and has a two-window range with 12-pane sashes. The rear of this wing features a small glazing bar sash above another sash. To the right, there are two 12-pane sashes. Below these, there is a central 9-panel door flanked on the left by a canted bay window with a 16-pane sash and on the right by a large triple sash.

To the right, a link wall contains a segment-headed doorway leading to a stable with a stone slate roof and a square ventilator. The main stable range, located to the left, is two storeys high and has a three-window range, including two pitching eyes and a 12-pane sash to the right. Above, there is a gabled dormer with a glazing bar window. The central carriage door is elliptical arched with a keystone, flanked on the right by a 12-pane sash and on the left by a door, beyond which is a boarded-up window. The left return also features a pitching eye, and below it are two doors and a window. The interior has not been inspected.
