Union Hotel And Adjoining Boundary Wall

The Union Hotel and its adjoining boundary wall is a public house built around 1842, with some early 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a coped stone ridge stack. It has a plinth, a first-floor band, and pedimented coped gables. The hotel is two storeys high and has a three-window range of 12-pane sash windows, with the outer windows featuring louvred shutters. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with an overlight, flanked by single sashes that have leaded glazing and shutters. The left gable is pedimented and has a pebbledash tympanum displaying the name "Union Hotel" in raised gilt lettering. Each floor includes a tripartite sash window, with the upper one having glazing bars and the lower one featuring leaded glazing, both equipped with louvred shutters. The interior has not been inspected. The adjoining stone boundary wall features chamfered ashlar coping and a rounded corner, topped with wooden latticework, and includes a central pair of stone gate piers.
