Left Lodge At Entrance To Nether Edge Hospital

The Left Lodge at the entrance to Nether Edge Hospital is a lodge built between 1842 and 1843 by William Flockton. It features coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and steep pitched slate roofs, designed in the Tudor Revival style. The building has a plinth and shouldered coped gables with kneelers. It is two storeys high with a single window range and has a cross plan. On the drive side, there is a small window with a label mould, and below it, a moulded Tudor arched doorway with a label mould and a close boarded door. The street front has a similar small window above a moulded four-panel door with an overlight and a plain ashlar surround. The interior has not been inspected. This lodge serves as an ancillary building to the former Ecclesall Union Workhouse.
