Description

Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was unoccupied at the time of the resurvey. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later additions from the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone, which is now partly rendered, and has a stone slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays, with a wing extending to the rear right. There is a single-storey addition on the right side and a two-storey addition to the rear wing. The lower storey and plinth are rendered.

The central entrance features a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a stone architrave that has a festooned frieze and pediment. On either side of the door are two-pane sash windows in square-faced surrounds with projecting sills. Above, there is a sill band that runs beneath three similar first-floor windows, with the central window being highlighted by an architrave, festooned frieze, and segmental pediment. The second floor has a sill band beneath three shorter windows. The roof is hipped and has renewed brick end stacks, with a tall end stack on the single-storey addition to the right. At the rear, there is a three-storey round-headed stair window located in the centre of the main range.

The interior was not inspected, but it is likely to retain original features as of the time of the resurvey.
