Description

This listing describes a pair of headstones located approximately 4 metres southeast of the porch to the Church of St. Peter. The headstones date from the early to mid-18th century and are made of ashlar limestone.

On the left is a small double headstone for John and Martha Berry. It features rounded heads on two panels, with an inscription for John on the left beneath a carved panel, and an inscription for Martha on the right, which includes a carved panel depicting a skull and cross-bones along with an hourglass.

On the right is a larger rectangular slab dedicated to Thomas Morton, who died in 1757, and his wife Sarah, who died in 1787. This monument has a finely-carved inscription that is flanked by fluting. Both headstones are good examples of their respective periods.
