Description
Two headstones are located about 3 metres east of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Both headstones commemorate John, who died in 1726, and Mary Birch, who died in 1730. The larger headstone, which may have been reset, stands approximately 3½ feet high and features a double head carved with two skulls and crossed bones, along with a head depicting burial instruments. The reverse side is also carved, showcasing an inscribed raised and fielded panel with an arched head and a death's head key. The second stone, likely originally the foot stone, is about 3 feet high and has an unusually shaped head with two skulls and burial instruments. It includes a poetic inscription on an incised shield surrounded by a beaded and boned border.
