Description

This building is a joinery workshop and house, constructed in the early to mid-19th century, with some additions and alterations made in the 20th century. It was built for the Wentworth Estate and features dressed sandstone with a graduated slate roof. The structure is two storeys tall and has nine bays, with the house occupying the left end bay and a rear lean-to.

The building has a plinth, and many ground-floor openings are obscured by later additions. The first bay has a 4-pane sash window, while the ninth bay has a renewed casement. There is a central archway that is now part of a later addition. On the first floor, the central three windows have projecting sills, horizontal-sliding sashes, and lintels shaped like voussoirs. The outer bays each feature a deep sill-band connecting large round-arched openings; the first bay is blind, the second and third bays have part-glazed double doors with fanlights that include radial glazing bars, and the seventh, eighth, and ninth bays have sash windows set in stone panels. The roof is hipped, with short ashlar stacks at each end of the ridge.

On the left side of the building, there is a central part-glazed door beneath a deep band, with a 6-pane sash window above it and a small circular light to its left, along with another 6-pane sash window above. The interior has been extensively altered and the building is part of the estate workshop complex. There are also attached single-storey additions that are not of special interest.
