Description
This sundial, located approximately 5 meters southeast of the porch to the Church of St. Peter, is likely from the 18th century and was refixed on a plinth dated 1841. It is made of ashlar limestone and features a small three-step plinth topped by a Tuscan column, which supports an abacus and a square sundial with a ball finial. Each face of the plinth has inscriptions, including: "No Security against/death"; "I stay on no Man/Repentance may be too/late and so may mercy/to"; "All things inward/Approaching their/Appointed end"; and "No Wicked Man/is happy/ 1841". The abacus is inscribed with the words: "Worldly Glory/So is life/May(?) present glory/ is the way of safety". The sundial has a carved face on each side, but the gnomons are missing. There is a projecting band beneath the ball finial.
