BRAMPTON BIERLOW LEE BROOK LANE (south side) Hoober Stand Cottage

GV II

Lodge. Probably late C18, C19 addition. Ashlar and coursed, squared sandstone; Welsh and stone slate roofs. Octagonal with attached L-shaped wing. Single-storey. Octagonal part: plinth; door in south side with decorative iron hinges and 3-pane overlight beneath flat arch; cornice forms gutter; lead flashing, brick stack to right above eaves. Rear: sashes with glazing bars to each elevation. Right return: blind recess. Wing: entrance in projecting wing to left of octagonal part has door in wood porch flanked by small sashes with glazing bars beneath wedge lintels; hipped roof. Additional wing set back to left has added wood porch with blind window recess to its left and 16-pane sash to right; copings to left gable; corniced end and ridge stacks. Included for group value.
