Description

Hoober Hall is a farmhouse dated 1691, constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with a 20th-century cement-tile roof and 20th-century brick stacks. The building stands three storeys tall and features a three-room plan with a partial outshut to the rear left. It has large quoins and double-chamfered surrounds to wood casements, although the stone mullions have been removed.

To the left of the center, there is a part-glazed door set in a chamfered, quoined surround with a large lintel, and a chamfered hoodmould that extends over the flanking three-light windows. To the right, there is another two-light window with a dripstone. The first-floor windows mirror those on the ground floor and also have dripstones, with a blocked single-light window to the left and another blocked light above. The second floor features three small windows with four-pane casements. The gable ends have shaped kneelers and chamfered copings.

There are end stacks and a ridge stack situated above the door. At the rear, there are some double-chamfered single-light windows in the outshut and a quoined surround to a blocked doorway. The right return has a projecting stack with offsets on the front and side faces, truncated beneath the gable apex. Attached farm buildings at the front and left of the house are not of special interest.
