Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1690, as indicated by the inscription "J A / 1690". It is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone, with patches of cement mortar, and has a Welsh slate roof. The building follows an L-shaped plan, incorporating a partial outshut to the rear left of the main range and a wing to the rear right, which includes a single-storey addition and an oven projection.

The main range is two storeys high, formerly with an attic, and has two first-floor windows. A C20 panelled door is located to the right of centre, set within an irregularly quoined surround with a deep stone lintel, the soffit of which has been heightened. The flanking ground-floor windows have renewed horizontal-sliding sashes in double-chamfered stone surrounds, many of which have been repaired with cement. A continuous dripmould runs above these windows, and a dripstone is positioned over the door. The first-floor windows match the ground-floor windows, also with cemented surrounds. A renewed brick ridge stack is located to the left of centre.

The right return side features a three-light mullioned window on the ground floor of the main range; the mullions have been removed and the window has a cemented dripstone. Above this is a three-light window with removed mullions and a cemented dripstone. A blocked two-light attic window is also present, with a dripstone. A further dripstone is evident above the first-floor window of the wing's rear extension, where the mullions have also been removed.

Inside, a 17th-century ashlar fireplace is found in the ground-floor room on the left. There are chamfer-stopped spine beams. A brick-lined oven is exposed as a feature in the utility room at the rear.
