Description

This is a farmhouse dating to the mid-18th century, with later alterations in the 20th century. It comprises a main range with a cross-wing to the right and a wing to the rear left. The main building is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone with a Welsh slate roof, incorporating lower courses of stone slates. It has two storeys, with a cellar and attic in the cross-wing. The front of the main range features four first-floor windows. Quoins are present. A centrally located door, which has been altered and has a partly-quoined surround, leads into the house. Flanking the door are inserted iron casement windows, with two or three lights, projecting sills, and plain lintels, set within a continuous band that is interrupted by inserted lintels. The first-floor windows match those on the ground floor. A blocked single-light window above the door retains its original square-faced surround. A renewed brick ridge stack stands above the door. The wing to the right has two first-floor windows, with chamfered quoins and sash windows with glazing bars in tall, square-faced surrounds; a continuous lintel band runs along the ground floor. A single window is located in the attic of this wing. Shaped kneelers and gable copings are present. A renewed brick end stack is positioned on the right side. At the rear, the main range has an intact three-light, square-faced, mullioned window, with a matching two-light window above. The right return side displays a tall stair-window to the cross-wing. Attached farmbuildings are not considered to have any particular architectural significance.
