Description
Nos 6 and 8 Swan Street are two houses that have been converted into antique shops. They were built in the early 19th century and have been altered since then. The buildings are made of brick in Flemish bond and feature a 20th-century cement-tile roof. They stand three storeys high and have four bays.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an overlight that has intersecting-tracery glazing bars, all set beneath a flat brick arch. On the left, there is an early 19th-century shop window with a central door flanked by large casement windows that curve in at each end, along with a round-arched doorway. To the right of the centre, there is a part-glazed door with a three-pane overlight beneath a flat brick arch, and next to it is a later shop window.
On the first floor, there are projecting stone sills beneath the sash windows with glazing bars, all set under flat arches. The second floor features six-pane sashes with matching sills and arches. The buildings also have dentilled eaves and truncated end stacks.
