Description

Limpool Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century that has been altered. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and has a 20th-century cement-tile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring five bays. To the rear left, there is a three-storey, two-bay wing, along with an outshut from the main range, which includes a gabled stair wing rising at the rear angle.

An added porch, which is not of special interest, encloses a part-glazed door and a plain overlight, all set within an architrave beneath a pulvinated frieze that has a central panel and a cornice on consoles. The other bays on each floor have later casements with projecting stone sills beneath rubbed-brick flat arches, and there is an ashlar band at the first floor. The eaves are dentilled and sit beneath a moulded ashlar cornice, which is topped with shaped kneelers and ashlar gable copings. The ends of the building feature corniced brick stacks.

At the rear, there is a door on the side of the right wing with an ashlar surround, and a window in the stair wing that has a rubbed-brick flat arch. On the left return, there are later casements with shallow projecting sills and flat-arched heads, along with dentilled eaves, shaped kneelers, and ashlar gable copings on the left, which also has a corniced end stack and a similar ridge stack. The interior has not been inspected.
