Description
Harwoods House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond red brick and features a string course above the first floor, along with a brick dentil cornice. The old tile hipped roof has a coped gable parapet at the rear, a brick ridge stack on the rear wing, and an internal stack at the back. The building is L-shaped, with a wing on the right side at the rear. It has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window range. The entrance, located in the second bay, includes a flush six-panelled door and a fanlight set within a limestone ashlar pedimented doorcase. The windows are sashes with 12 panes on the first floor, set under painted gauged brick flat arches. The dormers feature two-light casements. The left return side presents an irregular three-window range, with leaded casements on the first floor, and there is a small one-storey and attic range beyond. The right return side consists of a one-window range. The interior has not been inspected.
