Description
Numbers 6 and 7, known as Foxcote, are a pair of cottages located on The Green. They date from the mid-17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are timber framed, featuring square framing with tension braces and brick infill. The right corner and the right return side have been rebuilt in brick, while Number 7 has a coursed lias plinth, and Number 6 has a plinth that has been replaced in brick. The cottages have a corrugated iron roof with a gable parapet on the right and 20th-century brick end stacks. Each cottage has a one-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a two-window range. There is a central porch that is open to Number 6, while Number 7 has a plank door. The mid-20th-century windows are two-light casements on the ground floor, paired together and featuring glazing bars. Number 6 has had gabled roof dormers added in 1985, while Number 7 has a box roof dormer with three-light casements. The left return side displays some weatherboarding at the gable, and the rear is similar. The interior is noted for having broad chamfered beams.
