Description
Lower Westfields Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with a string course and a brick dentil cornice. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there are brick stacks at the right end and ridge, both featuring cornices. The building is L-shaped, with a wing extending to the rear on the right side. It has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window range.
The entrance features a six-panelled door with a fanlight and a hood supported by scrolled brackets, located at the third bay. Above the door is a relieving arch, and the string course breaks above the hood. There is a cross window situated above the entrance. The windows are three-light wood mullioned and transomed, with horizontal glazing bars and gauged brick flat arches. Between the second bay and the entrance, there is a small boarded opening with a painted wood lintel. The walling above the first-floor windows is high.
On the right return side, there is a small two-light 20th-century attic casement with a brick segmental arch. The rear of the building is irregular, with the wing featuring a 19th-century plank door and a flush six-panelled door. The cross windows have horizontal glazing bars, and the ground floor window has a relieving arch. The main range includes a two-light leaded attic casement, and brick segmental arches are present throughout the structure. The interior has not been inspected.
