Description

House. Dating from the early to mid-17th century, Hogbrook Farmhouse is a rubble stone building with ashlar quoins. In the 18th century, it was extended to the south. The east elevation of the original 17th-century section and all elevations of the 18th-century addition are rendered and painted. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in modern concrete tiles, with a half-hipped gable to the north and a gabled section to the south. The house is two stories high. While most windows are modern casements, two sets of original 17th-century mullioned casements remain on the west elevation, one with two lights and the other with three. A mid-19th century painted brick porch is present. Three brick chimney stacks rise from the ridge. Internally, the house features chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops and a large open fireplace.
