Description

Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone, with some brick rebuilding on the right side. The building has a steeply pitched machine tile roof featuring brick stacks at both ends and along the ridge, forming an L-plan.

The exterior consists of two storeys and a two-window range. The gable at the right end indicates a wing, while there is a narrow lean-to projection at the left end. The right end has ashlar quoins and a diagonal buttress. The entrance, located to the right of the centre, features a 20th-century door within a wooden frame. The windows have timber lintels above 20th-century casements, with two-light casements on each floor to the left of the entrance, and a three-light casement over the entrance with a two-light casement above it in the gable. The right return has mostly been rebuilt in brick and includes 20th-century windows and two brick cross-axial stacks.

At the rear, there is a late 20th-century re-entrant block, with an entrance that has a renewed lintel over a 20th-century door. To the right end, there is a window on each floor with a timber lintel above a two-light small-paned casement featuring an iron opening casement. The wing has an entrance with an inserted lintel over a 20th-century door, and a plaque above it inscribed: JULY.XX.R.W./ MDCCXLV/ R.B. The window above has a two-light small-paned casement with an iron opening casement, and there are quoins on the left end. The end of the wing features a raking brick buttress with blocked first-floor and attic windows. The interior has not been inspected.
