Description
SK60SE BAWTRY SOUTH PARADE (east side) 10/29 5th June 1968 Nos 2, 4 and 6 (formerly listed as part of Nos 2, 8, 10 and 12) GV II Pair of houses now commercial premises. Late C18 of 2 builds. Red brick in Flemish bond, pantile roof. 3 storeys; 3:4 bays, the right-hand bays later. Bays 1-3 (Nos 4 and 6): brick plinth; central doorway has renewed panelled door and plain overlight beneath rubbed-brick flat arch with double keystone; flanking 16-pane sashes have projecting sills and heads as door. lst-floor windows the same but with flush wooden architraves; Sun fire-insurance plaque over bay 2. 2nd floor: 8-pane sashes in matching openings; modillioned cornice at eaves. Bays 4-7 (No 2): bay 4 has carriage opening with boarded double doors beneath rusticated flat arch with keystone; bay 5 has inserted shop window beneath flat arch of original window opening; bay-6 doorway with panelled double door and 4-pane overlight. Other openings. as before but with blind window to 2nd-floor of bay 6. Roof is hipped at left end and has end stacks and ridge stack to right of bay 3. Rear of No 2 has unequally-hung 18-pane sash to stair window. Additions to rear of Nos 4 and 6 are not of special interest.
