Description
Number 54, now divided into four flats, is a mid-18th century house that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is roughcast with a pantile roof. The main block is two storeys high and five bays wide, with a short wing to the rear left and a larger wing to the rear right. It has a rendered plinth and rusticated quoins. A 19th-century Doric stone portico is located in the central bay, flanked by sash windows with glazing bars, projecting stone sills, and wooden architraves. The upper floor mirrors the ground floor’s window arrangement, with the window in the second bay painted. An eaves cornice is present, along with shaped kneelers and gable copings. A brick ridge stack sits above the second bay. The left return features a two-storey, canted bay window with sashes and a hipped roof. A tall roughcast stack is located on the left wing, which has an end gable decorated with kneelers and copings.
