Description
The iron gates at the south-east corner of the churchyard for the Church of St. Lawrence date from the early 19th century. They are made of cast iron and consist of double gates with gate piers located on the right side of a pedestrian gate. Each double gate features finialled dog bars that are crossed by diagonal braces adorned with floral bosses. The main bars have similar finials above the top rail, while the left (western) hanging stile and the meeting stile are topped with miniature gadrooned-vase finials. The gate piers have octagonal bases with ribbed shafts and caps. The pedestrian gate on the left is designed with simple liars and swings within semi-circular railings that end at iron posts with annulets. This is a well-preserved example of its kind.
