Description
No 2 Vicar Road is a house that was formerly a shop, with a plaque on the right gable dated 1812 and later additions to the rear. The building is constructed of stuccoed sandstone and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and features two windows on the first floor. The doors and windows have square-faced stone surrounds that are painted black. There is a 20th-century door at each end in their original surrounds.
On the right side, there is a curved two-storey bay with three-light mullion windows on each floor; the upper central light has a 12-pane sash, while the other windows are matching casements with glazing bars. On the left side, each floor has a window with a casement that includes glazing bars. The building has a tall central ashlar ridge stack with a band at the top and a projecting stack on the left return.
The right return features a large ground-floor shop window with a wooden casement that has glazing bars, set within a wooden frame that includes consoles and a cornice. On the first floor to the right, there is a renewed 24-pane sash window beneath a rusticated wedge lintel. A circular date plaque is located beneath the gable apex.
